About Me

I am about to obtain my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design and Development (IDD) Technologies at George Mason University's (GMU) College of Education and Human Development (CEHD).

I recently (March 2011) accepted a position as an associate instructional designer at ICF International. My responsibilities include the design, development, and review of ILT and online curricula and training products for pedagogical soundness, technical accuracy, and adherence to Section 508 standards. Additional duties include mentoring and coaching of junior staff and actively contributing to business development efforts for the Human Capital Management and Consulting (HCMC) Group.

I launched my career in the e-Learning industry when I accepted my previous position as the sole Instructional Designer for ManTech International Corporation's corporate training department, ManTech University (MTU). I was responsible for designing e-Learning solutions based on solid pedagogical strategies that addressed the demanding needs of ManTech's world-class workforce.

Prior to my career as an instructional designer, I enjoyed six successful years working with the U.S. Department of Defense's (DoD), Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative at the ADL Co-Laboratory Hub in Alexandria, Virginia. From 2004 to 2010 I served ADL in a variety of capacities including: Office and Event Coordinator, Business Manager, and Project Manager of Operations and IT Infrastructure. It was during my time with ADL that I discovered the instructional design profession.

I have always had a passion for the arts and education and I am a self-taught graphics and web designer, former professional production stage manager, experienced event coordinator, project manager, and an up and coming instructional designer. I have been formally recognized by the NATO Working Group on Individual Training and Educational Development (NATO WG/IT&ED) and the Joint Forces Command for demonstrated my commitment to excellence. I have also been recognized by the Smithsonian Institute for my services as the lead stage manager of theatrics supporting Asian History Month in 2001.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Theater, Production Stage Management from Florida State University and I expect to complete my graduate degree in May of 2012 along with a Certificate in e-Learning. I am a member of the eLearning Guild, ASTD and Alpha Phi Omega, a community service fraternity since 1996.
